Previous findings have suggested that the neurocognition is affected in individuals with schizophrenia. The executive functioning is substantially influenced by the candidate genes, including COMT Val108/Met158 single-nucleotide polymorphism. Likewise, environment factors of the perinatal and the early childhood periods are associated with the decline of the executive functioning. In addition, the executive functioning level of the family members is also an important factor. The purpose of our study was to identify genes and environmental predictors of the executive impairment of schizophrenia patients. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that genetic (COMT Val allele) and the environmental factors contributed to the executive dysfunction as well as the executive functioning performance of schizophrenic’s mothers.
