Glucocorticosteroids for prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia from positions of evidence based medicine
This review of the literature is devoted to the actual problem of the children’s pulmonology – bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The issues of safety and efficiency of antenatal and postnatal use of glucocorticosteroids for the prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia are illustrated from positions of evidence based medicine. Despite the absence of no obvious benefit for bronchopulmonary dysplasia, treatment with antenatal glucocorticosteroids is associated with a reduction in the most serious adverse outcomes related to prematurity. That is why a single course of antenatal glucocorticosteroids could be considered routine for preterm delivery.
