Clinical anatomy of the coronary arteries
Coronary arteries architectonics is highly variable, the individual characteristics of their anatomy are identified not only on autopsy material, but also in vivo using modern diagnostic technology (selective coronary angiography, spiral computed tomography, etc.). The individual anatomic variations can be considered as a risk factor of vascular disease, especially atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia. The purpose of this publication – to summarize current data on the most common variants of the structure of the vessels supplying the heart, matching the terminology that is used in anatomy and clinical practice.
