56 patients with active native valve endocarditis and prosthetic endocarditis, who received mechanical or biological prostheses were included in the study. 49 patients (87.5%) received mechanical prostheses, 7 patients (12.5%) – biological prostheses. According to the results of microbiological study, the most common microorganisms were gram+ cocci (Staphylococcus). Infectious process caused paravalvular structures degradation and formation of abscesses in 37.5% of cases. Hospital mortality was 5.3%, five-year survival – 63.3%. We didn’t reveale any significant difference in survival of patients with prosthetic endocarditis and native valve endocarditis, with aortic root abscess and without it, with positive and negative microbiological cultures (blood, aortic valve tissues, aortic root abscess).
